Naivete

An exchange I had with the elevator operator at work this morning…

Him: Morning.

Me: Hi.

Him: How are you?

Me: Fine.

Him: You look so sad.

Me: Huh?

Him: You don’t look happy. Don’t worry man, it’ll be alright!

[silence…]

Me: How do you know?

Him: What?

Me: How do you know it’ll be alright?

Him: Uhhhh, well, it always is, isn’t it?

I HATE when I get asked “Why do you look so sad?” I often answer “I was born that way so people will ask that question.”

It is so annoying because most of the time I get asked it I am day dreaming or just thinking about something and it completely breaks my train of thought! UGH!
